Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park Opening

WAFF travelled to Rockville, Maryland to support Mattie and his message, a big inspiration to WAFF, during the official opening of the 27-acre Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park on October 18, 2008. Hundreds were in attendance, including Oprah who made a surprise visit from Chicago. The day featured numerous speeches and performances, including Nile Rodgers and Global Teen Leader, David Z. of Colombia, who both spoke on Mattie's influence on their lives and on WAFF. Nile and bandmate Folami Ankoanda-Thompson also entertained attendees with "We Are Family." This beautiful park will continue Mattie's message, inspiring people of all ages to believe that peace is possible.
