Mattie's Movie & Poetry Slam
October 10, 2007
Pediatric patients were treated to a special screening of Daddy Day Camp and a Poetry Slam during Mattie’s Movie & Poetry Slam at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey on October 10, 2007. The event, co-presented by WAFF and Lollipop Theater Network, inspired patients to write about “being yourself” in a poem collectively developed by the children with the help of poetry slammer, Robert Galinsky. The event sought to bring Mattie Stepanek’s message of peace to children with chronic illnesses and help them express and deal with their feelings of being “different.”
