ANGELINE MARTYN

Angeline has spent 20 years building partnerships with private and public sectors, social movements, and multi-lateral institutions that cross geographic, thematic and gender lines.  Her commitment to gender equality stems from an early curiosity about her Sri Lankan heritage, where in 1960 the first female prime minister in the world was elected. She has a deep commitment to advancing how empowerment and leadership influence organizational and global outcomes, demonstrated in her own management style, in the partnerships she designs and through her contributions as a public speaker and adviser.

In September 2018, she joined UN Women to develop and grow engagement and participation of corporations, foundations and individuals in the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment, matching funders interests with impactful, results driven programming. UN Women’s programming includes Women's Empowerment through Climate Smart Agriculture, Creating Safe Cities and Spaces, and Prevention and Access to Essential Services to End Violence Against Women.

She joined UN Women from Save the Children where she built multi-million, multi-year strategic partnerships and launched Save the Children's first Regional Corporate Engagement Center in Asia, becoming intricately familiar with the gaps and opportunities to improve health, educational and humanitarian outcomes.

Angeline’s academic pursuits at the University of Oxford in Comparative Social Policy grounded in women’s economic empowerment, her design of advocacy and policy agendas to end gender-based violence and prioritize early education, her efforts to make maternal and newborn death obsolete, alongside her population work are demonstrative of her commitment to the future we want.
