Dr. Michaela Kendall

Michaela is a co-founder and CEO of Adelan – one of the world’s first-ever fuel cell businesses. A pioneer in hydrogen technology, Adelan commercialises a clean energy technology co-invented by Michaela in the early 1990s, leading the global energy transition market to clean air.

She is also the UK Hydrogen Champion for Mission Innovation at BEIS, Chair of the Midlands Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Network and Chair of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) Low Carbon and Environmental Technology Steering Group (industry-led).

Over a 30+ year-career, Michaela has secured circa $100m in funding, working with powerful strategic policy and technical networks vital to low carbon businesses that can deliver energy transition, including the US EPA, the UN, the EU and national governments. As a leading environmental scientist with faculty positions in America, Asia and Europe, she holds academic posts at UK universities.

Michaela also plays a key role in building the UK’s national fuel cell strategy and collaborating with the international scientific community working in the Hydrogen Economy. She has a significant personal goal to foster the widest possible international cooperation to realise the ambitions of global hydrogen and fuel cell networks.
