Project: Young Environmental Leaders: Climate & Ocean Science Fundamentals (YEL)

Growing up in China, Lily witnessed severe climate impacts with few emerging solutions and a critical gap in climate education. She founded Young Environmental Leaders (YEL) — a 135-hour climate curriculum that emphasizes the interconnectedness of Earth's systems with human behavior. Co-developed with diverse experts, the curriculum weaves climate science and justice, empowering students to take action for a sustainable and equitable future. Beyond the classroom, Lily’s online platform is a trusted source of climate news for 70 million viewers, highlighting the disproportionate impact of climate change on marginalized communities. She ensures to post daily on the primary platform in China, where audiences lack access to climate dialogue. Lily is also the Director of the Katija Hyoungjoo Neuber Institute, championing youth decision-making. Based in Canada, she advises the provincial government to integrate climate literacy into schools, leading pilot programs in China and Canada. Lily believes climate literacy is fundamental for action.
