Emily Alix Fano, M.A
Emily is an experienced climate leader and published author specializing in the design and implementation of innovative climate resilience education programs. She has helped design programs including the award-winning Resilient Schools and Communities (RiSC), currently being adapted in Texas, New Jersey and Puerto Rico.
Emily is a co-founder of the Climate and Resilience Education Task Force (CRETF) – a diverse, intergenerational body dedicated to expanding access to P-12 climate education and teacher training across New York State. She is working to advance climate statewide education policy and provides mentorship to high school students who take part in CRETF’s Youth Steering Committee.
Emily has also co-produced two short films, co-developed learning resources, and designed and delivered teacher trainings. She has been recognized as a NYC Climate Hero by the Human Impacts Institute, received the American Littoral Society’s 2025 Coastal Conservation Champion award, given a proclamation by the NYC Council for helping implement a citywide food waste recycling program, and was honored by the U.S. Congress and Senate in 2025 with a Climate Education and Action Award. Emily is also a trained climate leader with Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project.
