Project: Desenganche & Jóvenes por el Clima Argentina
Witnessing widespread energy poverty in Argentina, Santiago began advocating for renewable energy at age 13. By 2019, he was leading initiatives as part of a youth-led movement driving national climate policy. In 2022, Santiago founded Desenganche to drive a transition to renewable energy and generate economic growth in Argentina. Desenganche installs solar panels, solar water heaters, and sustainable energy solutions in Buenos Aires, prioritizing community-centered implementation through local meetings and educational workshops. They will also create green jobs by training residents in renewable energy systems. In 2026, Desenganche will complete the construction of a solar water heater cooperative in a low-income community in Buenos Aires, where they will employ locals. Santiago plans to transform the cooperative into a renewable energy global manufacturing company, leading Argentina’s transition to green energy to enhance economic prosperity, mitigate climate change, and improve the quality of life for millions without access to energy.
